OWL is a 501(c)3 organization, meaning any financial contribution is 100% tax-deductible. OWL focuses the investment of members’ dues on programs and events that will benefit members (our admin costs are low compared to other nonprofits).

Jay S. Duker, MD, is the President & Chief Executive Officer of EyePoint Pharmaceuticals, a biotech company that develops sustained-release medications to treat serious ocular disorders. Prior to becoming CEO in 2023, Dr. Duker was EyePoint’s Chief Operating Officer from 2022-2023 and the Chief Strategic Scientific Officer from 2020-2022. He served on EyePoint’s Board of Directors from 2016-2020.
For the 21 years between 2001 and 2021, Dr. Duker served as the Director of the New England Eye Center (NEEC) and Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers and as served as editor of multiple text books including Yanoff and Duker’s Ophthalmology, one of the best selling books in ophthalmology over the past three decades, now in its sixth edition.
Dr. Duker is the founder of three successful start-up companies; SurgiSite Boston, the Boston Image Reading Center (BIRC), and Hemera Biosciences, the developer of HMR59, an AAV-based gene therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration that is now in a ph2 clinical trial after being acquired by Janssen in 2020.
