The masterclass combines the best practices of problems solving and creativity using extensive material from engineering, industrial design, and the arts.  You will take away:

  • How to discover and develop high-impact problems
  • How to align your core strengths with problem selection
  • How to find the “keystone” problems in your company
  • How to define and frame problems to maximize solution success
  • How to continually develop new, creative solutions
  • An ideation framework that consists of two dozen problem solving approaches
  • An understanding of how to select and implement the best problem solving approach for your problem
  • Examples and case studies of several leading problem-solving methods

 


 

Dr. David Ricketts is an Innovation Fellow in the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard.

 

Presenter Bio
As a scholar, Dr. Ricketts is an award winning innovator. His scientific research has won numerous awards from top government research agencies and his innovations have been featured extensively in the press. Together with colleagues at Harvard, he co-created and teaches the Innovation in Science and Engineering course at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). Dr. Ricketts received his PhD from Harvard University and has held appointments at Carnegie Mellon University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and North Carolina State University.

As an innovator and scientist, Dr. Ricketts has been awarded the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the U.S. Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA) Young Investigator Award. His innovations have been featured by Popular Science, NBC News, CBS News, and Fox News, just to name a few. He has also worked with some of the world’s leading innovative companies, including Mastercard, Dell, General Motors, Disney Research, and the U.S. Military, helping to boost creative thinking and bring cutting edge ideas to reality.
