Jane E. Rady is divisional vice president, business development at Abbott Medical Optics (AMO). Prior to AMO’s acquisition by Abbott in 2009, Ms. Rady was a corporate officer of Advanced Medical Optics (NYE symbol EYE) from 2002 to 2009. During that time she served in various positions including executive vice president, strategy and corporate development, corporate vice president, strategy and business development, and corporate vice president, strategy and technology including heading all of AMO R&D.
Prior to joining AMO, Ms. Rady was a director and the CEO of Integrated Genomics, Inc. and was a consultant to Integrated Genomics and several other companies in 2001. From 1984 to 2000, she was employed by G.D. Searle & Co. in various capacities including president and general manager of Searle’s international joint venture, Lorex Pharmaceuticals Ltd., vice president of corporate licensing & business development, and vice president of strategic planning. Prior to that, she headed venture investing activities in Monsanto focusing on emerging technologies and businesses in biotechnology. Ms. Rady began her career in Chicago with Abbott Laboratories.
Jane received her Bachelor and Master of Science from the University of Illinois in molecular biology/microbiology and her MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Academic awards include Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
She serves as a board member on the University of California Irvine’s Biomedical Engineering Corporate Advisory Board, as a member of the board of directors for the Medical Device Manufacturer’s Association, and as an advisor to the southern California chapter of Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.
