OWL Mentoring Program fosters professional development, personal growth
OWL members who attend the upcoming American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of a new program offered by the organization. OWL’s first Mentoring Program event will be an informative, highly energetic, interactive session that explains the key dimensions and value of a contemporary approach to mentoring.  Read more.

OWL Sanctuary at the AAO Meeting
One of the ongoing benefits with OWL membership is access to the OWL Sanctuary, a women’s only lounge. The Sanctuary is a place for OWL members to chat and meet one another or just sit back and relax. Everything that you may need to feel comfortable is offered, including complimentary refreshments, massages and manicures. Wi-Fi is also available.

Not an OWL member? Feel free to stop by the OWL Sanctuary to inquire about membership, meet other members and start your benefits right away. We hope you’ll join us! Your meeting isn’t complete until you visit the OWL Sanctuary.

In Atlanta, I was honored to be named your OWL president for 2009 – a special honor because I was following a woman I respect and admire deeply, Jane Aguirre. Read more.

The Book I Am Reading
Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide

“Women hold up half the sky,” goes a Chinese saying, and authors Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn – the first married couple to win Pulitzer Prizes – somehow find a way to both horrify and inspire readers as they explore the “deeply unequal status” of women.
