Letter from the President Greetings to all! I hope this finds you well and off to a fantastic year. I love this time of year when plants are blooming and the days seem longer (although seemingly never long enough!).
OWL is off to a great start this year with a goal of expanding the programs we offer to you, our members. Our mentoring program continues to flourish and is open for more mentors and mentees. We will also be hosting our Monday night event at the upcoming ASCRS meeting, and it should prove to be another great one! The topic is social media, and I for one would like a better understanding of the various social networking Web sites and how we can put them to optimal use.
We’ll also be kicking off a series of webinars beginning in April on such topics as work-life balance, ophthalmology and eye missions, “personal PR” and managing change.
We’re excited about an upcoming collaboration with Women in Ophthalmology — OWL is partnering with WIO for its annual Summer Symposium (Aug. 12 to 15 in Pinehurst, N.C.). All in all, a lot to look forward to from OWL in 2010! We also welcome any input and feedback you may have regarding topics we’ve touched on or ones you’d like to see. Take care, and we hope to see you in Boston! Pamela
OWLers and FOWLers meet at Hawaiian Eye 2010During the Hawaiian Eye 2010 meeting recently held at the Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa in Kauai, Hawaii, approximately 40 OWLers and FOWLers met for cocktails, conversation and fun at the Stevenson’s Library bar. This intimate gathering proved to be an ideal situation to encourage everyone to become better acquainted.
